Why not just vinegar and baking soda?
The classic combo froths in the sink but does very little inside a sealed machine. Most people use more laundry detergent than needed. Over time, leftover detergent residue builds up inside the washer. When the cleaner tablet starts breaking it loose, that old detergent can foam up along with the cleaner. This usually means the cleaner is doing its job, and future cleanings should foam less if the washer is cleaned regularly.
2. Soft water
Soft water can create more suds, especially when combined with old detergent residue and a cleaning tablet. This can cause extra foam during the cycle.
3. Drainage issues
A partially clogged drain hose or slow-draining washer can cause water and foam to back up instead of draining properly.
