Coffee Maker Cleaner & Descaler
- Tackles odor at the source
- Strips hidden buildup
- Months of cleaning cycles per pack
If your coffee has started tasting bitter or thin, the machine is usually the reason. Coffee oils and mineral scale build up inside the lines where no brush reaches. One tablet, one brew cycle with water only, and the residue that has been seasoning every cup is gone.
Works in single cup, multi cup, drip, and espresso machines. Twelve uses per box. Descale monthly if you brew daily.
Highlights
How to use

Why not just vinegar?
Vinegar is a weak acid in the wrong dose. It loosens light scale but ignores the coffee oils that actually sour the flavor, and the smell hangs around for brews afterward. The bigger problem is your machine: that same acid wears at the rubber seals and gaskets over time. Breville's manual warns vinegar damages the internal seal, and Keurig says it can void your warranty. Our tablets clear scale and oil in one cycle and rinse out clean, so your next pot tastes like coffee and your machine isn't the one paying for it.

Your coffee maker is brewing through months of buildup
Every pot leaves a little behind. Coffee oils go rancid in the basket and lines, hard water leaves scale on the heating element, and a film settles into the reservoir. You taste it before you see it: the coffee turns bitter, the machine brews slower, and a rinse with water never reaches where it sits.
Three steps to a clean machine

Drop one tablet in
Fill the reservoir, drop in a tablet, and let it fully dissolve.

Run a brew cycle
Brew one full cycle with water only. The tablet works through the reservoir, lines, and heating element.

Rinse and brew
Run a fresh-water cycle or two to rinse. Your next pot tastes like coffee, not cleaner.
What one cycle clears out
Limescale
Hard-water scale that crusts on the heating element and slows the brew.
Coffee oils
Rancid oils in the basket and lines that turn every cup bitter.
Mineral deposits
Calcium that collects around the spray head and chokes the flow.
Reservoir film
The cloudy residue that settles into the water tank.
Slow brewing
Buildup in the lines until the machine sputters and drips.
Stale taste
The flat, old flavor that fresh grounds alone can't fix.
One cycle, same machine

Why do I need to clean my coffee machine?
Over time, coffee oils and residue build up inside the coffee maker, which can affect the taste of your coffee. A clean coffee maker ensures that you get the best-tasting coffee without any stale or bitter flavors from old residues. Furthermore, mineral deposits from water can accumulate and clog the coffee maker's internal components. Descaling the machine removes these deposits and keeps it functioning properly. Renuv both cleans and descales to remove all the nasty things lurking in your coffee machine
Do the tablets leave any taste or smell?
No. They are odorless and unscented.
What are the Ingredients?
Sodium Percarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Citric Acid, Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate, TAED, Sodium C14-16 Olfein Sulfonate, PEG6000, EDTA Disodium Salt Hydrate
Why are Renuv coffee tablets better than others?
Size and formulation. Most coffee cleaner tablets on the market are small. Ours are heavy duty full-size tablets, and one box gives you 12 uses, where liquids and powders typically run out after 2 to 4. Concentrated tablets are also lighter to ship than liquid, which means less packaging and less fuel per clean.
Why is your box shrink wrapped?
Our boxes are made of recyclable cardboard and our product is biodegradable and septic safe. We make every attempt to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The boxes are wrapped for shipping and warehousing purposes, if they were not wrapped they would be susceptible to moisture and destruction in transit and warehouse handling.
Will this work on my coffee maker?
Renuv coffee maker descaler tablets are compatible with all brands including Mr. Coffee, Delonghi, Keurig, Cuisinart, Nespresso, Breville, Ninja, Hamilton Beach, Miele, Braun, SMEG, Jura, Gaggia, Moccamaster, Oxo, Phillips, Verismo and many more. It also works for single cup, multi-cup or espresso machines.
Will this work on my kettle or percolator?
Yes it will work for water boilers and electric kettles. However those tend to only require descaling and a product such as Renuv's Citric Acid Powder may be a better solution for those. Either way you're covered by The Renuv Guarantee: 60 days, money back.
There are white particles coming out of my coffee maker.?
That is limescale being removed. It means Renuv is doing its job and removing it. That being said, if your machine is extremely neglected, large limescale deposits on some machines may be near impossible to remove, that is why it is important to regularly clean and maintain your coffee maker to avoid getting to the point where your machine will no longer perform at its peak. If you find that your machine is severely full of mineral buildup, you may wish to use a concentrated descaler like Renuv's Citric Acid Powder and then run the cleaner after.
Do I still need to clean and descale my coffee maker if I have a water filter?
Yes, you still need to descale a coffee maker even if it has a water filter. Water filters can reduce chlorine and some impurities, but they don't remove the minerals that cause scale buildup. Over time, minerals like calcium and magnesium collect inside the machine, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descaling helps clear out this buildup and keeps the machine running efficiently.
Regular cleaning is also important to keep the damp parts of the machine from building up residue and odor. Even with filtered or bottled water, some mineral deposits and residue will still form. Using a filter may reduce how often you need to descale, but it doesn't eliminate the need. Keeping your coffee maker clean ensures better-tasting coffee and a cleaner machine.
My coffee maker stopped working after I descaled it?
If your coffee maker stops working after you descale it, there are a few possible reasons.
- Sometimes, leftover descaler can remain in the machine if it's not rinsed thoroughly, which may interfere with sensors or flow.
- In other cases, the descaling process can loosen built-up mineral deposits, and those chunks might clog internal parts like valves or tubes, preventing water from flowing properly.
- Some machines also have sensors or safety features (thermal cutoff switch) that shut down the system if something seems off during the process, such as low water flow or overheating. Unplugging the machine and letting it rest for a while can sometimes reset it.
- If the machine was heavily scaled before, descaling may have exposed or worsened existing damage to parts like the pump or heating element. To fix the issue, try running a few cycles of clean water, unplug the machine for several minutes, and check the manual for reset instructions. If it still doesn't work, you may need to contact the manufacturer.
Do I need to let the tablet fully dissolve before using it?
For best results it is recommended that you allow the tablet to fully dissolve for the highest concentration of cleaner solution. If the tablet is taking longer than you would like due to a small reservoir or extremely hard water, you may dissolve it an separate bowl filled with hot water and then pour that into the reservoir. No more than 8 cups of water in order to maintain cleaning solution concentration at its peak.
